God of War is one of the greatest video game franchises of all time, with the recent reboot doing justice to this critically-acclaimed series. Watching a new avatar of Kratos as a dad is certainly quite a novel sight, with the addition of Atreus also being widely beloved by many fans. All in all, God of War is a great game that is worth anyone's time who's into powerful narratives and excellent combat in their games.

PC gamers are certainly salivating at the prospect of playing this game on their high-end rigs. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising if players complete this game within a week or so due to how addictive the title really is. That being said, these players might be confused about what to do after completing the main story. Thankfully, the following activities should keep them occupied for quite some time.

Updated on June 10, 2022 by Ritwik Mitra: God of War is one of the most popular action-adventure games of the last few years, similar to its reign on the PS2. It helps that the 2018 game was released on the PC and players are hyped to the moon when it comes to God of War: Ragnarok too. For June 2022, God of War is part of PlayStation Plus's free games line-up, which might encourage newcomers to finally dive into this PS4 masterpiece or motivate existing fans to jump back into Kratos's most recent adventure.

On the surface, there might not seem like there is a ton to do in God of War's post-game. However, this couldn't be further away from the truth, and players can utilize many ways to squeeze out as much playtime from this game as possible. Here are some of the most common things that players can accomplish after finishing God of War's main narrative.

10/10 Try Out New Game+

God of War's post-release support has been incredible. It's clear that Sony and Santa Monica Studios have a ton of respect for their IP, and one of the biggest changes added post-launch was the addition of a New Game+ that allowed players to carry over their armor and upgrades through another playthrough of God of War.

New Game+ integrates many unique things in God of War to make this playthrough feel unique all over again. This is mainly done through its enemies, which start off at a higher power level and have new moves as well.

9/10 Use Mods If Playing On PC

The PC release of God of War was absolutely monumental and proved that Sony was getting serious about releasing their exclusives on this platform. The action title is gorgeous on high-end rigs and lets players make most of the game's impressive engine to let it really show its amazing graphical fidelity.

The use of mods is generally discouraged for the first-time playthrough of any game so that players can go through the vanilla experience completely blind. Well, after people are done with God of War's intended experience, there aren't any restrictions to prevent them from using some of the many creative mods that have been released for this title.

While this might not be official post-game content, it does give players more of an excuse to play through the game once again.

8/10 Hunt Down The Valkyries

The corrupted Valkyries are some of the hardest enemies Kratos and Atreus will encounter in their journey. These enemies can be a handful to deal with, but a fair bit of perseverance and leveling up will be enough to take care of these powerful enemies.

They provide a bunch of amazing goodies upon defeat, making the act of fighting these tough enemies well worth the effort. In fact, fighting these Valkyries is important to unlock an even harder challenge that will be mentioned further down this list.

7/10 Complete The Trials Of Muspelheim

Muspelheim is one of the more unique areas that can be accessed in God of War. This fiery realm holds a bunch of challenges that Kratos can accomplish to get valuable resources and hone his combat skills.

Some of these trials can be pretty challenging, especially when it comes to their harder variants. Players who power through these challenges will gain the privilege of encountering another corrupted Valkyrie who can be quite a handful to defeat.

6/10 Journey Through The Poisonous Realm Of Niflheim

The realm of Niflheim is an area that everyone loves to hate for obvious reasons. This optional realm is a place that most people tend to avoid due to its high level of challenge and an annoying mechanic where all of a player's efforts can ultimately be for naught if they don't escape the poisonous mist in time.

Players need to invest a lot of time and resources to ensure that they can get through the poisonous mist of Niflheim unscathed. This can be quite a task, and players who have completed the main narrative can definitely try this challenge. This area also houses a Valkyrie which can be quite a pain to defeat but is definitely worth the effort.

5/10 Complete Any Side Quests That Might've Been Missed

God of War is filled to the brim with Favors that Kratos and Atreus can undertake to help out people in need. These sidequests have the same production value as the main game and are a worthy distraction for the player to undertake.

Chances are that most people have already completed many Favors before completing the main story. However, if any Favors are left, then there's no better time to complete them than during the post-game! Players will be doing a massive disservice to their own experience with this game if they choose not to pursue these high-quality sidequests.

4/10 Explore Midgard And Accomplish Everything In Store

God of War has a very Metroidvania-esque approach to designing its vast and awe-inspiring world. What this means is that most players will encounter several pathways and doors that can't be opened with the equipment they currently have on their person.

However, after getting Shock Arrows and the Blades of Chaos, a bunch of areas can be accessed in the game. If players haven't backtracked before the game's end, then they can do so now. This might seem a bit irritating, but the set-dressing of most locations in God of War is pretty enough to make this less of a chore.

3/10 Deal With All Three Dragons

Fafnir the dragon in God of War

God of War is filled with some truly amazing content that isn't featured in the main story. The three dragons that players can encounter throughout the game are a great example of this, and it's still pretty mind-blowing that interacting with these massive creatures is completely optional!

While there's another dragon called Hræzlyr that can be encountered in the story, he comes in the form of a boss fight in the main story. The other dragons need to be freed and drop the rare and valuable Dragon's Tear upon being saved.

2/10 Face The Valkyrie Queen In A Battle For The Ages

After defeating the eight Valkyries present throughout the world of God of War, players will have the opportunity to place their helmets in the Council of Valkyries to unlock this endgame challenge. Sigrun is no joke and will kick most God of War players to the curb if they don't approach this fight with both skill and strategy.

She is easily the hardest boss in the entire game by a country mile. Players who want the bragging rights of conquering the combat system of God of War should try and surpass this massive obstacle.

1/10 Try Out The Give Me God Of War Difficulty

After players have accomplished everything on this list, there's really not a not left to do in the game. The most they can do is set out to gain all the collectibles like Odin's Ravens, although this can be a rather tiresome and boring endeavor.

So, instead, players can just replay the game on the higher difficulty if they haven't tried this mode out yet. It's a massive challenge that can pose many obstacles, but players who manage to complete the game in this difficulty will definitely gain an immense sense of accomplishment.

God of War is currently available on PS4, PS5, and PC.
